KUCHING: The International Conference on Innovative Sciences and Technologies for Research and Education (InnoSTRE) 2022 will help the state shape and construct effective policies for the betterment of Sarawak.

In stating this, Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Roland Sagah pointed out that its theme ‘probing societal challenges through a unified, interdisciplinary platform’ is close and relevant to what his ministry is doing and aspiring for.

“With a goal to have the competitive talent to drive State’s aspiration, the Sarawak government is striving continuously for excellence.

“With the presentations at this conference, I am looking forward to discovering various themes and topics covered here that will contribute to the rapid advancement of talent competitiveness in Sarawak.

“I envision the societal challenges highlighted in this conference would bring both education innovation benefits and improve the well-being of the rakyat,” he said when officiating the 2nd InnoSTRE 2022 on behalf of the Premier at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today.

Adding, he stated that the international conference will be a platform for scientific researchers and practitioners with similar interests to be aware of recent updates in their fields, and that it will help to advance knowledge and its application.

“It would be a natural progression for the Ministry, as breakthroughs in modern technology and practice have already been identified as a key growth engine under the objectives of the 11th Malaysia Plan.

“This places it under the radar of the government’s Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) toward a developed nation status.

“Together, these developments will reshape the sustainability landscape and help shape the future of standard living, particularly in Sarawak,” he explained.

Sagah also expressed his wish to see the extended version of this knowledge explored in depth by all the prominent researchers who participated in this conference.

“I look forward to unique, innovative ideas, remarkable findings in relevant fields, and sustainable solutions to existing problems in improving Sarawak’s education, innovation, and talent drive.

“Indeed, the Ministry is looking forward to hearing new ideas, research findings, and suggestions from everyone presenting at this conference,” he said.
