State records 84 new cases

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded a total of 84 new positive cases on Monday (Feb 8).

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in a statement, revealed that 27 cases were recorded in Sibu; Song (23); Miri (10); Bintulu (9); Julau (5); Kapit (4); Bau (2); Pakan (2); Sri Aman (2); Samarahan (1); Lundu (1) and Sarikei (1), bringing the total number of Covid-19 positive cases in the state to 5,760.

It added that there were also 123 new cases that had recovered and were discharged.

“64 patients were discharged from Sibu Hospital, Bintulu Hospital (22); Covid-19 treatment and quarantine centres (PKRC) in Kapit (14); Miri Hospital (13); Sarawak General Hospital (9) and Sarikei Hospital (1).

“This brings the total number of positive cases that had recovered or had been discharged to 3,586 people or 66.94 percent of the total number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak,” it said.

Today, 87 new persons under investigation (PUIs) were reported while six PUIs were awaiting laboratory test results.

Lubok Antu and Telang Usan districts returned to green status as there was zero positive case recorded in the last 14 days.

Samarahan and Subis districts turned yellow because each recorded 17 and 18 local transmission cases respectively in the last 14 days.
