PUSA: The state government has spent around RM600 million to assist the needy and unfortunate groups in the state.

Deputy Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Mohammad Razi Sitam stated that the assistance has terms and condition of approval  that are outlined by the Social Welfare Department (JKM) to the community in Sarawak.

He added that the assistance would be immediately transferred to the bank account of the recipients.

Razi said this during the 2023 Sejambak Kasih Raya ceremony at Al Amin Beladin seminar hall here yesterday.

“I hope this kind of programme will continue to strengthen the relationship between the community and relevant departments alongside helping those who are unfortunate,” he said.

At the same time, he also hoped that recipients do not only rely fully on the government because the assistance being provided is not permanent, rather the provision is according to certain times and seasons.

Meanwhile Beting Maro assemblyman Maro Razalli Gapor stated that he would continue to prepare a community wellbeing complex in Beladin in efforts to help develop role models besides developing the area as well.

He added that the welfare programme proves the state government has always been aware of issues related to the people.

For the record, around 100 JKM recipients in Beladin have received RM100 alongside RM80 hampers.

Those who did not attend the programme will have RM100 immediately credited to their respective account.
