MIRI: The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Senadin Branch recently donated 70 units of wheelchairs to several health centres around the city here.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin said 10 units were handed over to the Miri City Health Clinic (KK), while the rest were for Miri Hospital, KK Tudan, KK Desa Senadin, Permyjaya Community Clinic and the Red Crescent Society Dialysis Centre (PBSM) Miri.

He said funds for the purchase of 70 units of wheelchairs were contributed by SUPP Senadin Executive Committee members and also supporters of the party.

“Today we witnessed the delivery of 10 units of wheelchairs out of a total of 70.

“In addition to the recipients of Miri City health centres for these 10 units, we will also hand over the remaining wheelchairs to Miri Hospital, KK Tudan, KK Desa Senadin, Permyjaya Community Clinic and also to PBSM Miri Dialysis Center in the near future.

“I hope this donation can provide more comfort to patients in need when they visit a hospital or health clinic to get treatment and medical services,” he said after handing over 10 units of wheelchairs at Miri City Hospital today.

Lee, who is also Senadin assemblyman, added that the new Miri City Hall is expected to open to the public in January next year and is currently in the final preparation stage.

The project, worth RM26 million, complements two existing health clinics, namely KK Miri in Jalan Merbau and KK Tudan in Jalan Tudan.

The donation was handed over to Miri Divisional health officer Dr P Raviwharmman Packierisamy.

Also present was KK Tudan Miri’s family physician Dr Maurice Steve Utap.
