KUCHING: Sarawakians have been urged to support the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg’s decision to take the lead in the implementation of development projects in order to ensure the state’s continuous progress.

Native Land Development Assistant Minister Datuk Roland Sagah Wee In said the state government’s decision is in line with its policy to attain developed status by 2030.

“We cannot allow ourselves to be affected by the reluctance of some federal leaders in implementing our projects,” he told New Sarawak Tribune yesterday.

Roland, who is also Tarat assemblyman, said, “Abang Johari has the experience and knowledge to source for capital and accumulate finances from our resources to ensure the smooth implementation of projects planned by the state government.

“He has a sound knowledge of economics and finance. These are partly reflected in the formation of the Development Bank of Sarawak (DBOS) and the formulation of the state’s budget.”

Last Sunday, Abang Johari stated that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is looking to put the state’s wealth to good use by funding development projects not just in urban centres but also in rural areas.

The decision was made following the lacklustre support of the federal government for the state’s vision.
