KUCHING: Bidayuhs have been advised to continue supporting the land documentation initiative carried out by the Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA).

In making the call, DBNA chief advisor Datuk Seri Michael Manyin Jawong said the initiative had, over the years, succeeded in demarcating native customary rights (NCR) lands belonging to members of the community and facilitated in the land title issuance by the authorities.

“With the land documentation, you will know the boundary of your land and this resolves disputes, especially among family members.

“Your children and grandchildren, especially those who live in the urban areas, will also know the NCR land belonging to the family,” he said at the presentation of a cheque by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg for the construction of DBNA community hostel here today.

Manyin, who is also Education, Science and Technological Research Minister, also urged the Land and Survey Department to continue supporting DBNA in the NCR land documentation.

“We hope the Bidayuhs will also utilise their land to plant commercial crops to generate better income for themselves instead of leaving their land idle and unproductive,” he added.

Manyin also advised the Bidayuh community not to use the social media as a platform to run down each other.
