KUCHING: An unemployed man suspected to be a drug dealer was nabbed in a house at Kampung Haji Baki here on Thursday.

Padawan district police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said a team of narcotics police raided the house around 12.30pm and arrested the suspect.

During inspection, the 39-year-old man turned in 16 plastic packets containing crystalline substances suspected to be syabu.

“The man along with the drugs weighing 7.80g with a street value of RM900, were taken to Padawan Narcotic Crime Investigation Division (NCID) headquarters for further actions,” he said, adding that the man also tested positive for drugs.

Results from interrogation found that the man obtained the drugs from another man known as ‘Boss’.

The suspect claimed that he paid via ‘bank in’ and the supply would be dumped at a set location.

Aidil stated that efforts to obtain more information from the man and tracking his supply chain were ongoing.

The case is being investigated under Section 39A(1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
