Pupils seem to be keen on reading SV and NST newspapers.

KABONG: Suara Sarawak (SV) and its sister newspaper, New Sarawak Tribune (NST) have established a programme known as Akhbar Masuk Sekolah (AMS) to encourage pupils to pick up the reading habit.

According to a spokesperson for both newspapers, apart from bringing the newspapers closer to the school community, AMS also aims to ensure that teachers, students and school staff get valid information through the print media.

“Selected schools around Kabong, Saratok and Roban have been selected as pilot locations for this programme, and InsyaAllah, we will also start distributing both newspapers to selected schools in several other parts in the state.

“For your information, there is no limit or subscription period set for schools, and all information or developments related to this programme will be updated from time to time,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sekolah Kebangsaan Abang Leman Kabong headmaster Mokhtar Jaya, when met, was excited his school had been chosen as one of the pilot locations of the AMS.

Apart from that, SV and NST chief operating officer Sardon Zainal, when contacted, said AMS was set up as a token of gratitude for the readers’ support of both newspapers.

He hoped the public would continue to support both newspapers in the future.
