BALINGIAN: This sub-district will soon have its own Dalat-Mukah District Council (MDDM) branch and a new sub-district office to cater for the needs of the local people.

The MDDM branch office and sub-district office projects, which are located close to each other, are currently being implemented.

Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi said the current progress of the RM5 million MDDM branch office project was 23.1 percent ahead of the scheduled 20 percent.

According to him, it is being implemented by MDDM and the contract period is from Feb 4, 2020 to Aug 3, 2021.

“However, the Balingian sub-district office project began late (June 26, 2020), following a change of consultant,” he said during his visit to the sites of both projects last Thursday.

Nevertheless, he said work on site preparation had been completed and the project, which is implemented by the Public Works Department (JKR), is scheduled to complete on Sept 21, 2021.

According to him, both projects were previously approved by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

To a question, he hoped that Balingian would be elevated to a district in the future.
