KUCHING: The prompt actions of a home owner and his neighbours managed to save a two-storey house from being destroyed in a wee-hour fire today.
Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the 1.10am incident in Kampung Rampangi.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Petra Jaya station were despatched to the scene after being alerted of the incident.
On arrival, the fire had already been extinguished by the 50-year-old owner and his neighbours.
It was reported that the flames had caused 10 per cent damage to the kitchen.
The team then took over the scene to ensure that any remaining fire was completely doused.
Once the situation was deemed safe, the team concluded the operations.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
