KUCHING: Lembaga Tabung Haji aims to attract more depositors from the Muslim community in Sarawak.
The director of Tabung Haji for Sabah and Sarawak, Datuk Nurlaila Said yesterday revealed that only 40 per cent of Sarawak’s Muslim populace or 325,000 individuals were currently depositing with Tabung Haji.
“Therefore, we aim to extend our reach to the remaining 60 per cent to achieve the aspiration of 100 per cent Tabung Haji depositors in Sarawak.
“We are also seeking support from the Sarawak government, particularly from Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi, to help realise our goal,” she said.
She made these remarks when met by reporters after paying a courtesy visit on Wan Junaidi and his wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, at Astana Negeri Sarawak today (Mar 28).
Nurlaila added that during their visit, they also invited the Head of State to attend their upcoming programme at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS).
“The inaugural Hajj Course Programme organised by Tabung Haji Sarawak is scheduled for April 27 and 28,” she added.
Also present were Tabung Haji Sarawak director Amat Kassim Pait, chief marketing officer Madehi Mahdan, and Hajj officer Hazidah Bujang Salleh.
