KOTA SAMARAHAN: An academic staff and two third-year Bachelor of Science (Hons) Chemistry students with the Faculty of Applied Sciences, UiTM Sarawak are currently doing research attachment at the National Chung Cheng University in Taiwan.

The research attachment, from Jan 28 to Feb 22, is led by Dr Ang Chung Huap of UiTM Sarawak’s Chemical Engineering Department.

The two undergraduate students are Amni Saffa Rosezaid and Wan Nur Afini Wan Adlin.

The objective of the attachment is to expose the students to the fermentation laboratory working environments, including designing microbial fermentation processes, maintaining quality controls, lab biosafety and fermentation products recovery.

“Upon completion of their attachment, they will be collecting microbial biosurfactants and enzyme for further analysis in Malaysia,” UiTM Sarawak disclosed in a press statement yesterday.
