SEMOP: Community leaders and village chiefs should always be aware of projects being implemented in their respective villages.

Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Corporate Affairs and Ukas) Abdullah Saidol said community heads also need to establish good cooperation with agencies and elected representatives so that problems in villages can be resolved immediately.

“Grassroots leaders need to be smart in resolving issues at the village level to prevent them from becoming more critical.

“In fact, Village Development and Security Committees (JKKKs) and all leaders must act wisely to repel perceptions that arise among the community,” Abdullah said during the Daro District Community Engagement Programme 2021 Series II at the Kampung Semop community hall on Monday.

He added that Pulau Bruit is progressing in stages with various development plans being implemented. Its water supply system is also in the process of improvement.

Commenting on the programme, he said it is aimed to strengthen the role and responsibilities of KMKKs. At the event, he also presented RM77,995 in minor rural project (MRP) grants to organisations at the district.

Meanwhile, Tanjong Manis MP Yusuf Abd Wahab said the government’s move to implement the emergency order has proven to be successful as the number of Covid-19 cases in the country has showed a significant decrease.

He called on everyone to disseminate information relating to the national immunisation programme so that more people would register for vaccination.

At the community engagement programme, Yusuf represented Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib in delivering a briefing on the Malaysia Prihatin programme in Tanjong Manis.
