Tan appointed M’sian team manager for Asia Games

KUCHING: Master Tan Check Joon, who is the technical chairman of the Sarawak Taekwondo Association (WTF), the Executive Committee and also the chairman of the Taekwondo Guidance Board of Malaysia (WTF) has been appointed as the Malaysian taekwondo team manager for Asia Games 2018.

He will bring Malaysia team participate in the Asian Games Trial Championship in Jakarta, Indonesia from February 8 to 12.

Meanwhile, a kyorugi athlete from the Sarawak Taekwondo Association (WTF) Tan Yen Ming was elected to represent Malaysia for the upcoming championship and another championship which is the Asian Games 2018 which will take place in August this year. “I’m happy for our young athletes who have once again been selected by the national Taekwondo Association (WTF) to represent the country in this Asian event,” Tan said.

Tan Yen Ming, our male heavyweight champion at the Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2016 and in the Thailand Invitational Taekwondo Tournament 2016, has won the gold medal and also in the International Ta e kwondo Champi onshi p International Taiwan Cup. He was also male heavyweight champion also in various national and international kyorugi events in the year of 2017.

Tan added: ”It has always been the goal and objective of our association to train and develop more potential poomsae in the association competition. In addition to improve their strengths in preparation for the forthcoming Sukma”.

‘I’m proud that Sarawak once again proved we can produce taekwondo athletes to represent our country,’ Tan said.
