Teacher dies after playing hockey

MUKAH: A 45-year-old teacher Hadefi Daud, who was involved in the ‘Karnival Pesta Sukan dan Kebudayaan Perkhidmatan Pelajaran Sarawak’ (PSKPP), suddenly collapsed at a multipurpose court in SMK Mukah here around 11.40am yesterday.

Mukah district police chief DSP Jimmy Panyau said Hadefi was playing hockey during the district level carnival and was taking a rest when he collapsed.

Jimmy said, “After playing hockey, Hadefi took a rest with a friend before he collapsed. He was immediately taken to Mukah Hospital where he was pronounced dead.”

He added that Hadefi was a teacher of SK Pangkalan Lobang in Jalan Mukah-Selangau and lived in Kampung Medong, Dalat.

“Police investigations found there was no foul play in the case and an examination conducted on the victim’s body also found no injuries were detected,” he said, adding that the police had

classified the case as sudden death.
