KUCHING: A female teacher was killed in an accident at KM5 Serian-Tebedu Road, near Kampung Sorak Melayu this morning (Nov 4).

Nur Amiza Amira Abdullah, 29, from Kampung Pangkalan Kuap, Samarahan, was confirmed dead at the scene by Serian Hospital paramedics.

Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said Serian district police operations room received a distress call on the incident at 7.20am.

He said Nur Amiza, who was driving a Perodua vehicle, was on her way to school in Tebedu from Serian.

“It is believed that the victim’s car skid out of control before crashing into a concrete culvert by the side of the road,” he said.

The victim’s body was taken to Serian Hospital for Covid-19 test before post-mortem is performed.

Alexson noted that during the accident, it was raining and the road was wet.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
