SIBU: A teenager was killed in an accident at Jalan Pedada here early yesterday.
Sibu District Police chief, ACP Saiful Bahri Abdullah said the deceased was Tay Hau Jin, aged 17.
He said Tay was believed to be heading towards the town centre from Jalan Pedada around 2.18am when the motorcycle he was riding suddenly went out of control and crashed into a lamp post at the roadside.
He said Tay died at the scene and his remains were sent to Sibu Hospital for further action.
Saiful Bahri said the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act, 1987.
Members of the public who witnessed the accident are urged to come forward and assist the police in their investigation.
