KUCHING: Sarawak’s vaccine rollout for teenagers aged 12 to 17 years has reached 41.3 percent of the teenage population, with the teens completing both doses.

The State Health Department in revealing vaccination statistics as of Oct 17, said this accounted for 121,300 of eligible teenagers while 231,803 others were also injected with the first dose and are now awaiting their second jab.

“Sarawak has given Covid-19 vaccine jabs to adolescents aged 16 to 17 years and adolescents aged 12 to 15 years with certain health problems starting Sept 8.

“For those aged 12 to 15 years without comorbidities, Sarawak has started rolling out vaccines to this group on Sept 24 and the state is aiming to fully vaccinate the teenage group by Oct 31,” the department said in a statement today (Oct 19).

Sarawak has also started implementing the Covid-19 vaccine booster shots from Oct 13.

As of Oct 17, a total of 11,156 booster doses were administered in Sarawak — with 2,372 of these jabs administered in Miri.
