LUNDU: As part of the Kembara Kenali Borneo tour, Telok Melano will host events to honour Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Bilal Shah’s visit on September 13.
Lundu District Officer Gustian Durani said that this visit will be a laid-back affair.
Alongside Her Majesty Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, Gustian said, the royal couple will first pose for a photo at the 0km Telok Melano signboard.
“After that, both of them will visit our fishermen and the local product shop nearby, where they can view products made by the people of Telok Melano.
“Next, they will attend a briefing with the Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS) and Lembaga Amanah Kebajikan Islam Lundu regarding the Telok Melano mosque project. Following this, there will be a cultural dance performance by the Telok Melano community.
“Subsequently, they will receive a briefing from representatives of the Public Works Department (PWD) about the Pan Borneo Highway project. After the briefing, Their Majesties will join for lunch,” he said this after attending the open day of Lundu District Education Office here on Saturday.
He added that the royal couple is set to arrive in Telok Melano by 10 am, with an anticipated crowd of 300 to 500 attendees.
Among the guests present will be Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, acting Head of State Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, and Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Datuk Nancy Shukri and Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Henry Harry Jinep.
