Fine Line in the Sky

By Maya Green

The boundary between sanity, and insanity
Is like the twilight moment, before the dawn
Not quite the morning, but for its tone
One can’t say, it’s still the night’s boundary

By the artist’s own hand, a fine line’s drawn
The line of twilight, so refined before dawn
As to the choice between sanity, or insanity
That’s obvious; of the line — you can’t see

Between the night and day, seems obvious
To those who care to see, so it may be
To the uninitiated — a seeming randomness
To the initiates, in randomness lies certainty

There is order, purpose — and intention
For everything in the universe’s moves
Not in a random way, or a sense uncertain
But in an orderly, and preordained moves

One such fine line of wonders, certainly
Is the line between — sane and insanity
Happy is the man, and happy is he alone
Who’s secure — who can call today, his own
