KUCHING: Pustaka Negeri Sarawak will be launching three books for dyslexic children during the third Sarawak Authors Festival 2020 from Aug 27- 29.

Its chief executive officer Dr Rashidah Bolhassan said the books published by Pustaka were part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative in raising public awareness of dyslexia.

“The books will be donated to any organisation or person dealing with dyslexic children,” she said during a Sarawak Authors Festival 2020 press conference held at the state library’s seminar room in Petra Jaya.

She explained that the books were specially designed for dyslexic children who had difficulty learning to read and write.

“The books were specially benchmarked by international guidelines and a dyslexia specialist from Unimas (Universiti Malaysia Sarawak).

“They were designed with more creative elements, with illustrations and colours to capture the attention of dyslexic children,” she added.

Rashidah pointed out that the books also aimed to promote Sarawak’s diverse culture while fostering a love for reading among dyslexic children.
