Willie arrives at the nomination center at the Siburan District Office yesterday morning.

PADAWAN: Puncak Borneo witnessed a three-way contest between Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Wiillie Anak Mongin, Pakatan Harapan (PH) Diog Anak Dios and Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) Iana Anak Akam in the 15th general election (GE 15) after Parti Aspirasi candidate George Young Si Record withdrew at the last minute.

Meanwhile, the initial candidate of PSB Tomson Ango gave way to another candidate Iana Anak Akam, also at the last minute.

George, who was previously announced by Aspirasi president Lina Soo as the party’s candidate, withdrew on the grounds that according to Lina they did not agree with GE15 being held earlier and during the flood season.

More than 1,000 GPS supporters from the three state constituencies, namely Serumbu, Mambong and Tarat came to give their moral support to Willie at the nomination center at the Siburan District Office.

Also present to accompany Willie were Tarat State Assemblyman Datuk Roland Sagah, Mambong Assemblyman Datuk Dr Jerip Susil and Serumbu Assemblyman Miro Simuh.
