KUCHING: Thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected in Sarawak until 12 noon, today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) in a statement said the affected areas will be in Sibu (Selangau) and Bintulu (Tatau).
A thunderstorm warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with rain intensity exceeding 20 mm/hour that is close to or expected to last for more than an hour.
Furthermore, a thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
MetMalaysia advised the public to monitor the weather conditions through the department’s official website at https://www.met.gov.my/en/, the myCuaca mobile application, or the department’s official social media pages.
