KUCHING: The Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) has gone back to opposition mode to fabricate stories and spew nonsense online and on print to discredit Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) president Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said this in a statement yesterday.

He pointed out Sarawak DAP has disagreed to the peaceful appointment of the new prime minister which ushered in a change of government.

After failing to hold on to governing a country of DAP leaders, he said this should be taken as an opportunity to examine themselves and to learn from the mistakes and flaws that brought their downfall.

Tiong, who is also the Bintulu MP, said, “If DAP truly disagreed with Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s decision to appoint Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as prime minister, it could have insisted on dissolving Parliament to make way for snap elections when Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad resigned as the prime minister.”

Tiong also pointed out that the disintegration of PH could not have happened without the actions of DAP leaders.

“They must shoulder the responsibilities too,” he added.

Tiong said GPS’ main goal of supporting the new prime minister was solely to put the brakes on the political farce of the past 21 months.

“It is time to save the weakening economy and put everything back on track. In doing so, the Sarawak GPS has not joined the PN alliance, let alone to be supporting Umno or PAS en bloc or individually.

“If even in supporting Muhyiddin as the Prime Minister does not rescue the country, GPS will definitely support dissolving Parliament and return power to the people,” he added.
