KUCHING: The telecommunication tower with Multi-Operator Core Network (MOCN) transmitter sharing technology will be built soon in Long Busan, Belaga.

Minister for Utility and Telecommunication, Datuk Julaihi Narawi disclosed the matter, saying that construction would be carried out in the near future.

“I have checked with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the construction of the tower has been approved.

“Furthermore, the tower will be equipped with MOCN equipment where users who use all telecommunication services can get the network in the area,” he said during a press conference after the launch of PUSTAKA@SARAWAKENERGY at Menara Sarawak Energy here on Thursday (Oct 20).

Julaihi added that the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) was actively promoting the technology in an effort to ensure that rural communities get to enjoy Internet connection.

“The first phase of 300 telecommunications towers under Sarawak Multimedia Authority  Rural Telecommunication  (SMART)  in the interior has been built and installed with SDEC’s MOCN technology equipment.
