Toy boat races attract 250 participants

MUKAH: Kipas Sakti Satu emerged champion in the ‘Champion of Champions Category’ of the Sungai Judan Lumbak Salui Lukut (toy boats with Lukut leaves as sails) held here last weekend.

With the win, this traditional toy racing boat owner, Hafizul Zaini, walked away with RM400, a trophy and a hamper.

The first runner-up was Surahim Zaini, with his boat ‘Angsa Mas’. He pocketed RM200, a trophy and a hamper. Third place was won by a boat named ‘Shy Bee Telew’ belonging to Ajid Sairi, who won RM100, a trophy and a hamper.

The fourth prize winner, M Nurudin@Daniel, with his boat named `Dewa Petian’ won a hamper.

Meanwhile, in the Hope (Harapan) Category, Ribut Petir, belonging to Syiling Lukut Club was the champion. The club won RM150, a trophy and a hamper.

In second place was X Babang owned by Abdul Razak who won RM100, a trophy and a hamper. The third place was won by Wira Angkasa belonging to Zulkipli Zul who received RM70, a trophy and a hamper. The fourth prize was won by Hasnul Jafar, with his boat called ‘Rasa Sayang Satu’. He received a hamper.

The two-day traditional toy boat race was jointly organised by SABERKAS Jourdania, Kpg Judan Hilir, Hulu Neighbourhood Watch Committee (KRT) and Mukah District National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK Mukah).

Meanwhile, the Best Looking “Gap” Salui Lukut with and anti drug theme was won by Ajis Juhan who received a prize of RM250 from Mukah District AADK.

The event held at the delta of Sungai Judan or Kala Dana Kpg Judan attracted 250 participants from Mukah and Dalat Districts.

Also present at the event were chairman of Sarawak Youth Parliament Malaysia, Cr Johan Harris Sulaiman, AADK Mukah District Officer, Felynora Joseph Na, Penghulu Haji Jaraee Tagsan, Event Organising Chairman, Hazemi B Mirad,  village chief, KK Haji  Murad Ibrahim, Cr Moon Ulan and local community leaders.
