Training institute grads receive certs

KOTA SAMARAHAN: It was a day to remember for 188 graduates of the Industrial Training Institute (ILP) Kota Samarahan when they were awarded diplomas and certificates in industrial technology at the 15th JTM Training Institution (ILJTM) Convocation, yesterday.

They received their certificates from Kota Samarahan Member of Parliament Datuk Rubiah Wang at a ceremony held the institute’s hall.

They were among the 426 graduates who completed their courses. The rest of them will receive their certificates at a later date.

Five students received the Best Graduate Award for Certificate in Industrial Technology –Mohammad Nasrullah Hassan and Delvin Urlie (Electrical Technology); Liaw Yian Huat (Metal Fabrication Technology); Hermit Dominic (Welding Technology); and Rosylia Mobin (Mechatronic Technology).

Meanwhile, the ILJTM Alumni Figure Award 2022 went to Joseph Umpang Engong.

Meanwhile, Manpower Department (JTM) director general Shakib Ahmad Shakir said the convocation ceremony marked the end of an episode in the lives of the graduates, some of whom would further their studies while some would enter the job market.

“To those who choose to further their studies, I wish you success, I hope you all do not stop gaining knowledge and continue to obtain higher qualifications.

“To the graduates who choose to work, hopefully you will get a good job and be able to take advantage of all the knowledge and skills learned,” he said.

Also present were ILP Kota Samarahan director Azkar-Albar Abu Bakar; High Technology Training Centre (Adtec) Bintulu director Abd. Rahman Mohd Said and Labuan ILP director Zainudin Ahmad.

Meanwhile, in a separate event, Rubiah witnessed the handing over of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between ILP Kota Samarahan and Sarawak Consolidated Industries Berhad (SCIB) which was signed on Oct 7, 2020.
