Triple win for Sarawak Skills at TVET Awards

KUCHING: Sarawak Skills Group of Learning Institutions (Sarawak Skills) received three top awards at the Malaysia Education & TVET Awards Ceremony 2023 in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.

The awards were Malaysia’s Best in Skills Training Award for the Sarawak Skills Development Centre. Outstanding TVET Leadership Award for Sarawak Skills Group’s Executive Director, Hallman Sabri. Best TVET Training Provider in Automotive and Welding for the Automotive and Welding Institute of Sarawak (AWISAR).

In a statement, Hallman shared his joy over these recognitions, highlighting the group’s dedication to talent growth in Malaysia and beyond.

He said these awards show the big role Sarawak Skills plays in Malaysia’s growth in areas like economy, education, and digital progress.

“These awards show our strong drive for top-quality education and training. They encourage us to do even better, focusing on preparing a skilled workforce for Sarawak and the whole of Malaysia,” Hallman said.

He also shared how Sarawak Skills works with tech experts from Malaysia and other countries, giving local industries the latest knowledge and tools. This cooperation helps many areas, such as boosting work results, managing costs, and bringing new ideas. This support is crucial for the big changes planned for Sarawak under the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030).

Deputy Minister of Human Resource Mustapha Sakmud presented the awards, witnessed by Lee Seng Chee, the managing editor of Education & TVET Asia Publication, and Datuk Rajendran Ramachandran, the honourary chairman of Malaysian Private Education Cooperative.

Also present were Sarawak Skills’ secretary Datuk Maznah Dasmi and treasurer Hilmy Othman.
