Two alumni of SDEC’s DiVA programme win prestigious awards

KUCHING: Two alumni of the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation’s (SDEC) Digital Village Accelerator (DiVA) programme, Neuon AI Sdn Bhd and Sinisana Technologies Sdn Bhd, received three prestigious awards at the 2nd Sarawak Digital Economy Awards, held last week.

Neuon AI, an emerging leader in AI technology, was honoured with the coveted Premier’s Award. 

“They were recognised for their groundbreaking locally-owned AI intellectual property, financial sustainability, and the development of a robust and scalable platform,” according to a statement on Tuesday (Oct 10).

Neuon AI’s transformative work in AI and group-sourced big data is set to elevate Sarawak’s infrastructure, particularly in road maintenance and safety. 

The company was represented by chief executive officer Dr Chai KC and chief financial officer Marcus Chai.

In addition to the Premier’s Award, Neuon AI also clinched the Research & Development and Commercialisation Award for their contributions in automated vision technology.  

Neuon AI, specialising in computer vision, machine learning, and IoT, was founded in 2018 with a mission to make AI solutions accessible to all, aiding businesses in increasing revenue, enhancing work efficiency, and optimising resources.

Meanwhile, Sinisana Technologies received the Environmental Sustainability Award for their groundbreaking achievement in producing the world’s first blockchain-traceable sustainable pallet, known as “palleTrace.” 

This innovation, which is both affordable and environmentally impactful, enables the tracking of individual pallets in global supply chains, promoting transparency and environmental responsibility in the movement of goods. 

Sinisana, a key player in the blockchain industry since its launch in 2019, utilises digital technologies like blockchain, zero-knowledge proofs, digital tools, and IoT sensors to assist brands in the supply chain industry. . 

Sinisana was represented by co-founder and chief executive officer Jonah Lau and software developer Erin Lai.

These accolades underscore the success of the DiVA programme in nurturing and supporting digital startups in Sarawak. 

“DiVA, a six-month flagship initiative within the Sarawak Digital and Innovation Ecosystem, empowers mature Sarawakian tech startups with a seed grant of up to RM150,000 to accelerate their growth and maturity,

“SDEC has overseen two cohorts thus far, with 10 tech startups graduating from the programme, collectively estimated at a valuation of RM80mil.”
