KUALA LUMPUR: In conjunction with the upcoming Deepavali celebration, the federal government has agreed to exempt highway users from toll charges for two days – on November 11 and November 12.

In his statement, Work Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the toll exemption would be given to all vehicles at all toll plazas across the country except at the Plaza Tol Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) and Plaza Tol Tanjung Kupang, both in Johor.

“The initiative is to enhance the festive spirit of Malaysians, especially those of the Hindu faith, who will be celebrating Deepavali

“This is also in line with the wishes of the unity government in helping the people easing their burden regardless of their race, religion and beliefs,” he said.

“The estimated total traffic during these two days is approximately 11.8 million vehicles.

“With the implementation of the free toll, it is hope that road users will take the opportunity to plan their journeys ahead. They are also advised to comply by the suggested travel time advisory (TTA),” he added.

Users can check the traffic status or any incidents on the highway, which will be updated on the official social media accounts of the Lembaga Lebuhraya Malaysia (LLM), namely on Facebook: Lembaga Lebuhraya Malaysia or on Twitter @LLMtrafik regularly.

Highway users can also contact the LLM Traffic Management Centre at the toll-free number 1-800-88-7752 for the latest traffic information or assistance.
