PUTRAJAYA: The public hearing of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into the discovery of temporary camps and mass graves in Wang Kelian, Perlis entered its 12th day today.

Three more individuals are expected to testify before the seven-member panel led by former Chief Justice Tun Ariffin Zakaria.

Today’s proceedings began with the 36th witness, Perlis Subordinate Court assistant registrar Monica Joseph Gaisah, taking the witness stand, at the Dewan Gemilang of the Home Ministry here.

A total of 38 witnesses have testified since the first day of the proceedings on April 16.

The RCI, set up with the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Jan 29, will, among others, re-examine all documents and evidence related to the discovery of the temporary camps and mass graves in Wang Kelian.

In 2015, the country and the world were shocked by the discovery of 139 graves and 28 human trafficking camps at the top of Wang Burma Hill in Wang Kelian, at the Malaysia-Thailand border. – Bernama
