Two new clusters in Bintulu

KUCHING: Two new community clusters were declared in Bintulu today (sept 9), namely the Sungai Segan Cluster and Jalan Bintulu-Miri Dua Cluster.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the Sungai Segan Cluster involved residents of a longhouse under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO), located at the area of Sungai Segan, Jalan Ulu Sebauh, Bintulu.

“A total of 47 people have been screened, of which 25 including the index case were found positive and 22 were found negative. Meanwhile, 24 new cases have been reported today,” the committee said in a statement today.

It said the Jalan Bintulu-Miri Dua Cluster also involved a longhouse under the EMCO, located at Mile 17, Jalan Bintulu-Miri, Bintulu.

“A total of 125 people has been screened. Of these, 33 including the index case have tested positive and 92 tested negative. Meanwhile, 32 new cases have been reported today,” it stated.

The committee said that positive cases from both clusters were being isolated and treated at Bintulu Hospital and the Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) in Bintulu district.

It also announced the end of one cluster, namely the Skim Penempatan Stutong Baru Cluster in Kuching, as no new cases involving this cluster had been reported in the last 28 days.

With that, SDMC said there were still 147 active clusters remaining in Sarawak as of today.

On the status of districts, it said Kabong district had changed status from yellow to orange after recording 31 local infection cases in the past fortnight.

As of today, the state had 36 red districts, one orange district, two yellow districts, and one green district.
