KOTA SAMARAHAN: More than 600,000 alumni from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) have so far made significant contributions to society in the areas of science, technology, the humanities and entrepreneurship.

With more than 500 academic programmes available, UiTM Vice Chancellor Datuk Dr. Roziah Mohd Janor stated that the university provides numerous opportunities to develop future leaders at the national, industry and global levels.

“From pre-diploma to doctor of philosophy level grads, she said, adding, “I am quite proud of their accomplishments.”

The UiTM Sarawak graduates, she said, have made a variety of accomplishments in a wide range of sectors in the years 2021 and 2022.

“Among them are the gold medal in the Karisma Virtual Edition 2021 and the 2021 Virtual International Language Competition, as well as the silver and bronze medals from the Fourth Malaysia-Indonesia-Thailand International Symposium and Creativity Competition.

These include participating in the YSS Green Summer Volunteer Campaign Student Volunteer Mission in Vietnam in 2022 and taking second place in the 18th Okinawa Goju Ryu Ipoh Open International Karate Competition, she said.

“In the meantime, UiTM is placed 101–200 globally and second in Malaysia in The Impact Ranking 2022.

“The United Nations has set out a set of global sustainability ambitions and the ranking analyses the activities and impact of institutions in reaching those aspirations.

“The successes of UiTM today have enhanced its reputation as one of the renowned institutions in the nation as well as in realising a university that is known around the world by 2025,” she said.
