KOTA SAMARAHAN: In conjunction with the 23rd Unimas Convention, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) Sports Centre will organise the Unimas Confest 2019 Relay Festival on October 26, at Unimas Stadium here.
It is the first relay event to be held and involves participation of teams from around Kuching and Kota Samarahan.
The event also received cooperation from Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) in terms of promotions and technical personnel.
A total of 16 teams —11 men’s and five women’s teams — will compete in several relay events, namely 4x100m, 4x200m, 4x400m and medley relay for the men’s and women’s categories.
The men’s teams which have confirmed their participation are Unimas A, Unimas B, SSN Tabuan Jaya, A.O.B Asajaya, Psycho, GMH, UiTM A, UiTM B, Axis Lalala, Axis X and Axis Legend.
The women’s teams comprise Unimas A, Unimas B, SSN Tabuan Jaya, UiTM and Axis Petra Jaya.
Competition director Ealfy Graggory Dullie (pic) said the relay event is expected to see stiff competition among the teams. Moreover, Sarawak Sukma athletes and former Sukma athletes who will also join the races.
Members of the public from around Kuching and Kota Samarahan are welcome to witness and support the competing teams.
The top three winners of each event will receive cash prizes and medals.
