SIBU: University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) has recently responded to a viral TikTok video posted by an account named “csi.98” on June 21, 2023.

In the video, the account owner, who is a UTS graduate, claimed to be facing difficulties securing employment in Singapore.

However, UTS in a statement today, clarified that the content of the video was misleading and causing confusion to the public.

“The account owner was our student from 2016 and graduated in 2021 from Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Marketing which is fully accredited by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) (MQA/FA8731) and Jabatan Pendidikan Tinggi (JPT) (R/342/6/0199),” it said.

UTS emphasised that all its programmes are fully accredited by MQA, Professional Bodies, and JPT, ensuring the highest quality of education.

“The issue arose whereby the account owner was unable to secure employment in Singapore. As it is, there are UTS graduates currently employed in Singapore and it shows that our degree programmes are recognised worldwide.

“Referring to the video captioned “Anyone face same problem with me?” the reason that the account owner is unable to secure employment in Singapore is still unknown,” said the statement.

UTS stressed that the statement that was mentioned by the account owner was baseless and without any valid evidence and merely based on his personal view.

“The process of applying working Visa in Singapore was beyond UTS control and jurisdiction. We are a full-fledged university and will always maintain our highest quality of education,” it  said.

The public is advised to contact the University for any enquiry pertaining to this matter.
