SIBU: The decomposed body of an unknown man was discovered in Sungai Sebedil, Batang Igan on Thursday.
According to statement by Sibu Police Chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili yesterday (Aug 25), the police received information about the discovery at around 11.30 am on the same day.
The body was first noticed floating in the river by a member of the public near Rh Brayan in Sungai Sebedil.
After investigation, it was found that the man was without a shirt and only had shorts on.
His body was recovered near Rh Gira, also in Sungai Sebedil.
No identification documents were found with him.
Zulkipli said due to the advanced state of decomposition, it is believed that the man might have been deceased for over a week.
The body has been taken to Hospital Sibu for further examination, and the case has been classified as a sudden death.
