KUCHING: The St Theresa’s Parish Pastoral Centre is poised to become a prominent landmark in the Serian Division.

Kuching Archdiocese Archbishop Dr Simon Poh said the centre will provide modern facilities for religious events and various other purposes.

“The project is expected to cost RM18 million, and I hope all Catholics in Serian Division will collaborate and contribute funds so that it becomes a reality,” he said during the project’s fundraising dinner at SJK Chung Hua Serian recently.

Poh said St. Theresa Parish Serian is celebrating its 97th anniversary of establishment.

“In three years time, the Catholics will celebrate its 100 anniversary in Serian Division,” he said.

Earlier, Rector of St Theresa Parish Reverend Father Lazarus Swinie thanked assemblymen Datuk Sero Roland Sagah Wee Inn (Tarat), Dr Simon Sinang Bada (Tebedu), Datuk Martin Ben (Kedup) and John Ilus (Bukit Semuja) for contributing RM10,000 each towards the St Theresa’s Parish Pastoral Centre project.

Meanwhile, on Mar 14, it was reported that the building plan and relevant documents of the four-storey project have been submitted earlier to the relevant government departments for approval.
