SERIAN: Ayer Manis school and three residential housing estates will have their roads upgraded.

The three housing estates concerned are Taman Pasir, Taman Cosy and Taman Kakai.

Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Illus officiated at the handing over of site ceremony to Armada Construction recently.

The cost of upgrading the road to Air Manis school is RM200,000 while the roads to the housing estates will cost some RM682,000 which are part of the rural transformation project fund.

John said the road to Ayer Manis school needed urgent repair.

“Last year after an event with the school’s parent-teacher association (PTA) and engagement with the former Pastor, Pastor Brian Scot, I immediately went over for my walkabout to look at the problems. I was told that the parents, teachers, church members got together and with public donations they repaired it on their own. I promised them I would do something about it and today we are holding the earth-breaking ceremony for the road.

“For the roads in housing areas, the funds were meant for road resurfacing.  I advised the contractors, the community and the agency concerned (Serian District Council) to work together so that the project will be carried out smoothly without problem. By doing so, the project will be carried out according to schedule.”
