ENGKILILI: The Engkilili Jetty is proposed for upgrading for the benefit of the locals here.

State Minister of Transport Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin said that the jetty is currently under the maintenance of the Sarawak Rivers Board (LSS), which will monitor its cleanliness and safety.

“LSS also suggests the upgrading of the jetty so that the local residents can use it for fishing activities,” he said.

Lee made these remarks during a Safety Awareness and River Awareness Campaign Walkabout held here recently.

Furthermore, he also emphasised that the people of Sarawak must maintain the cleanliness of the river so that the river’s ecosystem remains preserved.

At the same programme, Lee distributed safety jackets to 50 recipients, including community leaders and village chiefs (KMKK), members of the Lubok Antu District Council (MDLA) and the general public.

Also present were LSS controller Lt Colonel (B) Ding Tiew Wong and MDLA deputy chairman Ugel Jok.
