Viral video of a man removing GPS flags actually “a appointed contractor” .

KUCHING: Police have confirmed that a viral video of a man uprooting flags belonging to Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) around Jalan Pending, was not an act of mischief.

Kuching OCPD ACP Ahsmon Bajah said the 47-second video, which had gone viral this morning, happened near SMK Chung Hua Middle School No. 1.

“Our investigations found that it was not an act of mischief nor an act against the laws.

“The GPS election machinery has also confirmed that the flags were brought down by their appointed contractor to be relocated to another area,” he said.

In this regard, Ahsmon urged the community not to create any speculation pertaining to any election issues.

This was to ensure that the 15th general election (GE15) is carried out smoothly in a harmonious atmosphere.
