KUALA SELANGOR: Suffering from visual impairment does not stop Corporal Abdullah Sidee Mohamed from exercising his right as an early voter at the Kuala Selangor District Police Headquarters (IPD) today.
Abdullah Sidee, 35, who was among 371 police officers and personnel who are registered early voters at the IPD, said this was his third time voting in such a condition, after being diagnosed with a large tumour on his optic nerve in 2017.
“Although I have a medical condition, as a Malaysian who supports the practice of democracy, I don’t want to miss the opportunity to vote in the state election,” said Abdullah Sidee, who works in the Logistics and Technology Division of the Transport Branch (Administration) at the Kuala Selangor IPD.
Meanwhile, married couple Insp Mohd Fahmi Ahmad, 36, and Sergeant Nurardila Ismail, 35, also went out to vote in line with the call made by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain for every police officer and personnel to carry out their civic duty.
Mohd Fahmi is attached to the Licencing Division, while his wife is with the Crime Prevention, Security and Community Division.
“This is our third time voting as husband and wife here,” said Mohd Fahmi.
Meanwhile, Kuala Selangor district police chief Supt Ramli Kasa became the first individual to vote as soon as the polling centre was opened at 8 am. – BERNAMA
