MUKAH: Twenty-three teams are participating in the on-going TMJ Transport Cup Volleyball Championship at SJK Chong Boon here.

The five-day tournament from 3 to 7 October is divided into five categories, namely Inter-department, Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Girls’ Under-12 and Boys’ Under-12.

The participating teams for the Inter-department are PSKPP (Education Department), Mukah Division Health Department, Health Department B, Polytechnic Mukah (PMU), IPD Mukah and SHL.

Others are I-CARE  VC  MDVA,  UiTM, TRS,  Boys’ U12  & PMU Volleyball Club (Men’s Open),   MDVA,  PSKPP, UiTM VC,  Wings- Unity & Gadoung View Team(Women’s Open), Jebungan,  Chong Boon A & Chong Boon B(Girls’ U12) and  Jebungan,  Chong Boon Team A &  Chong Boon B (Boys’ U12).

The competition sponsor, the proprietor of TM Parts and Machinery (Mukah) Sdn Bhd, Lim Jienq Jieh, officiated at the opening ceremony.

The championship which was organised by Mukah Division Volleyball Association (MDVA) is an avenue to unearth and promote the game which is the most popular sport in this fast growing town, besides football.

Among those present were Kapitan Ting Siew Leong who represented MDVA, team managers and committee members of the association.
