Pipeline repair work in progress.

KUCHING: The water supply at several areas here has improved except for some areas at Kota Samarahan, following the collapse of a stretch of road along Jalan Haji Baki which had damaged the 1000mm and 750mm mild steel cement-lined (MSCL) pipelines.

Kuching Water Board (KWB) said Jalan Dato Mohd Musa, Kota Samarahan and nearby areas may suffer from low or no water pressure.

“Due to the unstable ground at the collapsed slope, KWB is now installing a new 1000mm MSCL pipeline bypassing the location, and pipe-laying works are continuing.

“It is expected to be completed on Tuesday (July 20), barring any changing situations,” it said in a statement.

KWB water tankers will continue to be mobilised to affected areas to provide water supply assistance, and consumers can contact KWB’s call centre at 082-222333 to request for water supply delivery.

“KWB appreciates the consumers’ patience and understanding during the restoration process,” it added.
