MIRI : The water supply has resumed in stages after repair work on the burst pipe at Batu 7, Jalan Miri-Bintulu (near PUSPAKOM) was completed yesterday (June 10) at 3 pm.

This was disclosed by LAKU Management Sdn Bhd yesterday in a statement.

However, it said, contrary to what it anticipated, water supply pressure to most areas had not built up to its usual level, causing inconveniences and ordeals to all.
Some areas, especially those on higher ground, had yet to receive any water.

LAKU said it also received reports from consumers that some areas originally not affected by the abovementioned repair work were now facing water supply issue.

LAKU’s maintenance teams are now on the ground round the clock to release “air lock” from the water pipes to ensure their ability to deliver satisfactory water pressure to all.

“As the demand for water is everywhere and all at once, the pressure building up in our supply network will take time. However, we expect full recovery within the next 24 hours,” the statement added.

Fortunately, this pipe burst did not affect the water supply to consumers in Miri.

Thus, LAKU We has given its assurance that its water assets are intact and their Lambir Water Treatment Plant is running at full capacity to meet consumers demand.
