“I started the business at the end of 2022, specifically last December. I started this business because of my interest in cars and motorcycles,” he told the New Sarawak Tribune.

Not many people are aware of what it takes to buff up a car because it requires skills and abilities which can only be gained through experience.

“Because I like neatness, in addition to producing the best work, it is an incentive for me to do this work myself until it is finished.

“I’m also very interested in seeing my car always looking clean, shiny because for me the car should always be smart so that we feel comfortable using it on any journey.

“Before I started this business, I was one of the staff in the car polishing and spraying department at a car repair and polishing company located in the city when I was around 18 to 20.

“Having learned the trade from the workplace, I dared to make this a business to earn side income,” he said.

He ran this business part-time at first out of his own home with every intention to someday find a new, more spacious site for the comfort of his customers.

“My business hours are only during holidays, from 8am to 6pm. It’s not done every day because I’m still working with for a company. For this reason, customers who want to use my services are asked to WhatsApp or call me first to book a slot with me,” he said.

His brother-in-law helps run his business and also put the finishing touches to cars sent in for polishing.

“I do business in two places, during the long holiday season, I will do it in my hometown which is in Munggu Jabang, Lubok Antu. On other days I do it at my own house which is located at Moyan, here,” he said.

He is grateful that after two months of operation, customers have started to recognise him and see the results of the cars he polished on Facebook and TikTok.

“One of the ways to promote the business I do is through TikTok, the Facebook page and also WhatsApp and the distribution of flyers to friends.”

In addition he also relies on word of mouth to help promote it.
