MIRI: The component parties in Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) have proven they could deliver the promises made in their manifestoes.

“We do not make promises only to turn back on the promises after getting elected by the rakyat,” said Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau.

He said over the years, component parties in GPS — Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) have never reneged on their promises to bring development to the people of Sarawak.

For that reason, he said, the rakyat should not trust a newly formed political party that only makes headline-grabbing promises which they would not have the ability to fulfil.

“We must ask ourselves … can a newly formed political party fulfil the people’s aspiration?” he said without naming the political party.

Dennis, who is PBB Telang Usan chairman, was speaking during the handing over of membership cards to 88 newly registered members of the party.

Among the new members were 55 former members of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Baram, led by Lawai Marcus @ Adam Marcus Abdullah.

“We want a solid political party that can deliver continuous development to the people … and for that reason, we choose to join PBB,” said Lawai when met after the presentation of membership cards held at PBB Telang Usan service centre in Luak, here.

Also present was Charles Balan Seling, a political secretary to the chief minister.
