KUCHING: Weida Integrated Industries Sdn. Bhd. today donated two water tanks to the Scout Permanent Matang Campsite, located near Matang.

The contribution is part of efforts to help the camp committee restore the facilities at the camp.

Assistant State Scout Commissioner Ngatiman Sarepin, who was also supervising the site cleaning, received the water tanks from  Weida Integrated Industries Sdn. Bhd representative Jackson Johet.

He said restoration work on the camp started had started in March.

The Matang Camp was officially opened on May 19 1990 by the then Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.

The camp has been neglected for some time and hence suffered damage.

Recently, the Sarawak Scout Association, however, took a concerted effort to rehabilitate the campsite.

Sarepin hoped that more companies would come forward to assist in the restoration work for the benefit of Scouts and Girl Guides in the state, Kuching in particular.
