MIRI: A 46-year-old cleaner suffered a loss of RM20,000 after being duped by two individuals offering welfare aid.

The incident unfolded when the victim noticed that all of her life savings have vanished on Thursday morning.

A police report has been lodged by the victim at Miri central police station on Friday.

According to sources, the ordeal started after two individuals — a man and woman, contacted the victim, offering an opportunity of welfare aid because she is a widow.

Not thinking much about it, the victim gave all of her personal details including her banking account passwords to the suspects.

However, she realised she had been deceived after seeing her savings all gone.
