KUCHING: Hope Place Kuching once again gives aid to a 36 year old widow who recently appealed to the NGO for help.

It said in a statement that Voon Ching Sia was left struggling with four very young children when her husband died in 2015.

She lives at Samarahan with her children and her elderly mother.

With no one else to depend on, she single-handedly takes care of everything, working at a supermarket and caring for her family.

Back in 2020, Voon fell on harder times when she lost her job due to the movement control order implementation but thanks to her husband’s Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) compensation, her family managed to scrap by.

She managed to get a new job two months ago in a coffeeshop but with her eldest child in secondary school and her youngest just started primary one, her situation is still not yet smooth sailing.

Furthermore, Voon has several chronic illnesses like high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol.
