Woman fined RM900 for hurting another

KUCHING: The Magistrate’s Court here fined a local woman RM900 in default one month in jail for causing hurt to a 24-year-old woman last week.

Fiffy, 23, took it out on her believing the victim was having an affair with her husband.

Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan meted out the sentence after Fiffy, from Kampung Tabuan Tengah, pleaded guilty to a charge framed under Section 323 of the Penal Code.

If convicted, it carries up to one year in prison or a fine up to RM2,000 or both.

She committed the offence by the roadside in front of an apartment at Jalan Green around 10.30pm on Feb 17.

Based on the facts of the case, Fiffy slapped and beat the victim with her hands, resulting in injuries to her forehead, left hand and bruises on her left ear.

Fearing for her safety, the victim lodged a police report, which led to the Fiffy’s arrest on Feb 18.

Investigations found that prior to the fight, Fiffy had accused the victim of having an affair with her husband but the victim denied the accusation.

Insp Merylene Lindan Andrew Mang prosecuted the case while, Fiffy was not represented by counsel.
